Vetox® – the magic ingredient

Vetox is our special formulation of New Zealand bee venom, found effective by 90% of women within 5 days in clinical trials. Vetox was developed by international researcher Professor Shaun Holt and HoneyLab.

Simple and natural

Nature knows best, and that’s why Kānu Bee Venom is nothing more than Vetox bee venom and kānuka honey with Ecocert polymer and preservative plus distilled water to give the consistency and stability.

Looking after our bees

The health and well-being of our bees is paramount. So we’ve developed our own venom collection technology that protects our bees while producing the highest quality bee venom.

Recommended use

Massage Kānu Bee Venom lightly into your skin morning and night. As the bee venom absorbs, feel your skin begin to tighten almost instantly. Apply your usual moisturiser and makeup over the top.

Taking care

The amount of venom is a fraction of a bee sting. While this makes Kānu Bee Venom safe for everyday use, it should not be used by anyone with an allergy to bees. A simple patch test is recommended, and if irritation occurs, either reduce the amount you use – or stop using the product entirely. Avoid contact with your eyes.

Ingredients

Vetox bee venom: This is our special 100% natural formulation of New Zealand bee venom that makes the magic happen.

Kānuka honey: This is a pharmaceutical-grade blend of kānuka honey, the powerful cousin of mānuka honey that has got scientists excited. Kānuka honey smooths and moisturises the skin.

Ecocert polymer (dehydroxanthan gum) and distilled water: These combine to give the serum a consistency you can rub into your skin.

Ecocert preservative (benzyl alcohol DHA): This stabilises the formulation, to ensure Kānu Bee Venom is long-lasting.

Kānu Bee Venom is a range of highly effective anti-ageing products combining a unique, high strength natural bee venom, sourced exclusively from New Zealand, with a strong scientific foundation.

It is made from 4 natural products: bee venom, Kanuka honey, a natural polymer and a natural preservative.

The bee venom causes a very small amount of temporary swelling. This firms the skin, “irons out” wrinkles and plumps up the lips.

The effects can be seen within a few minutes when it is applied to the face. When applied to the lips it works even quicker and some people feel a tingling as it starts to work almost immediately.

The beneficial effects from the Kānu last for around 12 hours.

HoneyLab have undertaken a study which was presented at a major international cosmetic dermatology conference. 29 women (ages 47-66) with visible wrinkles took part in the trial. The trial did 2 things: not only did it prove that the product worked, but this study also worked out the exact concentration of bee venom that was needed for the most effectiveness.

When using the optimal concentration of bee venom, 9/10 said that there was a definite improvement in terms of reducing their wrinkles and 8/10 said they would recommend the product to others.

Again, HoneyLab have undertaken a study which was presented at a major international cosmetic dermatology conference. 10 women (ages 17– 66) took part in the trial.

This trial also proved that the product worked and worked out the exact concentration of the bee venom that was needed for the most effectiveness. When using the optimal concentration of bee venom, 9/10 said they definitely noticed a lip plumping effect, 9/10 said they would use the product again and 7/10 said that they would recommend the product.

HoneyLab have undertaken a study with 10 women (ages 49-66) who applied some of the most popular anti-ageing products. They all tried at different times, and without knowing which they were applying: Olay Definity Tone Correcting Serum, L’oreal Youth Code Serum, SaviQ Bee Venom Serum & Kānu Bee Venom Serum. The overall favourite by far was Kānu Bee Venom Serum. 9/10 participants said they would use it again and 9/10 would recommend the product.

Yes. Botox is not for everyone for many reasons, not least of all cost, and Kānu is a great alternative.

? Yes, if using Botox you can use Kānu for extra benefit. It is particularly useful several weeks after Botox injections, when they are starting to wear off, and Kānu can “top up” the effect.

Yes – apply Kānu first, let it absorb and then apply what you normally would. This regime should be done morning and evening and included with your other skin care regime. In the morning it can be applied before make-up as the continued absorption of the venom during the day or overnight will assist the process.

Kānu Serum – a light mixture for use under makeup.
Kānu Gel – a slightly thicker formulation with the same strength to be applied daily and for use as part of the overnight regime.
Kānu Lip plumper – a formulation for use on the lips.
Kānu Eye lift – our highest strength for application around the eyes for wrinkles, crow’s feet and frown lines.

The research was funded and undertaken by HoneyLab.

The process is called milking and involves putting a glass plate near the hive and running a small amount of electricity through the glass. The bees will attack the glass and deposit some venom, but do not die as their stingers cannot penetrate the glass. The bees are not harmed by this process, and their happiness and health is incredibly important to us

Only 1% of people are allergic to bee stings and we’re sorry but Kānu is not safe for these people. However, most people who think they are allergic are not. People who are not sure should apply a very small patch test on their arm to make sure there is not a large allergic reaction. Hundreds of thousands of people around the world are safely using bee venom products.

There are 2 main differences between Kānu Bee Venom and the other products that are available:

  1. Kānu is the only bee venom cosmetic range that has undergone clinical testing to such a high level that the results have been presented at a major medical conference.
  2. As a result of this testing we know exactly how much bee venom to add to the products. Independent testing found that most bee venom products do not contain anywhere near enough bee venom to have any effect.

Bee venom is a potent and fascinating material that has been used as a traditional medicine for centuries. It is mostly used for musculoskeletal pain and HoneyLab have a product containing bee venom and another natural product, capsaicin from chilli peppers, available – see www.rubeeven.com. In addition, it may be a useful treatment for acne and psoriasis and we will soon be undertaking clinical trials for these conditions.

HoneyLab are a New Zealand pharmaceutical company with several platforms of clinical research, including dermatology, pain, and nutrition.
